WILLIE'S WELCOME
Dear Cat Clinic of Cary Furriends,
Willie is so relieved the month of October has about come to an end. Willie cannot tell you how tired he is of dressing up in the silly costumes his mom insists on putting on him. Willie is purraying his mom does not remember about that Pilgrim costume from last year’s calendar shoot this November…unless this time he is forced to wear it in front of a delicious juicy real turkey instead of the inflatable one they used for that picture. However, with that being said, Willie’s mom has a Cat Clinic of Cary Facebook Halloween Photo Contest going on where our feline family member can win a $100 gift card. Willie thinks that all of his furriends need to embarrass their feline family members as much as Willie’s mom does to him by entering them in this contest at https://www.facebook.com/CatClinicofCary/app_522003557881781. If nothing else, Willie hopes all his furriends visit the Cat Clinic of Cary Facebook page and vote for their favorite feline in costume. https://www.facebook.com/CatClinicofCary
If Willie had to pick the highlight of this month it would be his surpurrise trip with some of his canine siblings to Goodberry’s where Willie got to enjoy the only thing he loves more than his delicious Fancy Feast….vanilla ice cream!
You can see more pictures from our trip to Goodberry's here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.605971112794187.1073741851.320476721343629&type=3
Willie has some very, very SAD MEWS to share with all of his furriends this month. It is with a heavy heart Willie shares with you that one of his mom’s resident hospital cats, his beloved furriend Jester crossed the Rainbow Bridge the morning of October 21, 2013. Willie’s mom acquired Jester on April 1, 2011 when his family brought him into her Cat Clinic of Cary to be euthanized because they did not want to give him daily medication to control his thyroid disease, a common medical condition affecting many senior cats. Jester stole the heart of Willie’s mom standing on the exam table purring and headbutting her. Willie’s mom just could not bring herself to do it and offered to let Jester live the remainder of his life at her Cat Clinic. Jester immediately became family to all and to so many of his mom’s Cat Clinic clients who he has greeted regularly in the reception area over the years. Although this is a very sad loss to all at the Cat Clinic, Willie finds comfort in knowing how loved he was over the past two and a half years. Sweet dreams Jester, the silence you have left Willie and his Cat Clinic family with is deafening but everyone is so glad you are no longer suffering. Willie knows you have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and will forever be in the hearts of all those lives that you touched.
Willie’s BIG MEWS is as of this month, Willie officially has OVER 6400 Facebook Furriends! Willie cannot thank all of his Facebook furriends for voting for him all month in the Petco Halloween photo contest for the chance to win a $25,000 grand purrize. Willie just can’t imagine how many fellow fur babies in need his mom and dad could help if Willie were able to win this purrize. Willie purromises to keep all his furriends posted on his status in this contest. Willie’s purrays all his furriends keep their paws crossed! If you are not furriends with Willie on Facebook, Willie encourages you to LIKE his page https://www.facebook.com/FriendWillieHodge.
Some of you may have received a special email from Willie last week about the Tri*Force Jump Rope Team Canned Food Drive. For those of you that did not see the email, here's more information: Willie's wonderful human cousin Anya is member of the Tri*Force USA Jump Rope Team. Willie has just been informed that Tri*Force is currently holding it's annual canned food drive benefiting Dorcas Ministries in Cary. (you can visit their website at http://www.dorcas-cary.org) Willie wanted to share this opportunity to pay it forward with all of his Cat Clinic of Cary furriends. If Willie's furriends would like to purrticipate in this event, please drop off your donated nonpurrishable canned food at the Cat Clinic of Cary by the end of the day on November 11, 2013. Willie hopes you can help Anya and Tri*Force have a successful canned food drive for Dorcas ministries. Thank you so much for your generosity.

On average, cats spend 2/3 of every day sleeping. That means a nine-year-old cat has been awake for only three years of its life.
The most expensive pet cat breed in the world is the Savannah cat, a cross between a serval and a domestic cat. The average cost for a kitten is between $4000 – $10,000. A Savannah cat named Scarlett’s Magic is also the Guinness World Record holder for the world’s tallest cat, measuring 17.1 inches from shoulder to toe.

With the Meow-lloween holiday approaching so fast, Willie’s mom thought it would be a good idea to share with you the hazards associated with this holiday for your feline family member. This article was posted to his mom’s Cat Clinic of Cary site recently and Willie thought it would be purrfect to share the link with you in his Mewsletter this month. Willie hopes all his furriends take a moment to read this most important article regarding the feline hazards associated with the Meowloween holiday so that all of their feline family members are able to remain safe this year. Happy Meow-lloween from Willie. http://cats.about.com/od/catsafety/a/SafeHalloween.htm
In Loving Memory of Jester, a sweet feline soul that no one will ever forget:
Poem For Cats
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Willie is so happy to share with you that one of his mom’s wonderful Cat Clinic clients, the Ciampi Family have adopted Cash this past month into their furrever loving home
Willie wants to introduce you to Mo, a 6 month old female kitty who has been at his mom’s Cat Clinic since she was 6 weeks old. Willie is so purrplexed as to why no one has fallen in love with Mo and taken her into their furrever loving home as she is a wonderful and sweet feline. Willie is so sad as Mo has already lost so much of her kittenhood, which is supposed to be the best time of her life, to being confined to a cage. Please contact Willie’s mom if you know of anyone that might be interested in adopting Mo.
Willie wants to introduce you to Panda, an 8 week old sweet and purry as can be kitten who would make the most purrfect feline addition to anyone’s family. Panda was found in the yard of Willie’s human grandma a few weeks ago. Willie is convinced once you see his sweet little face that one of his furriends will fall instantly in love with him and want to come in and adopt him. Willie purrays sweet little Panda gets to spend this holiday season surrounded by loving family members.
Willie wants to introduce you to Ginger. Ginger is a 6 year old female kitty that was accidentally run over by a car by her previous owner. Ginger was critically injured and suffered from a ruptured bladder and broken leg. Unfortunately, her previous owners were unable to afford the care necessary to attempt to save her, given her guarded prognosis. Willie’s mom took Ginger under her caring wing and after multiple surgeries and the amputation of her broken rear leg, is happy to place this sweet girl up for adoption. Willie purrays there is a family reading his Mewsletter that would love to have a special needs kitty in their household.
Finally, Willie would like to introduce you to Milo, a wonderful kitty with a truly sad story. Milo was brought to the Cat Clinic with his feline sister to board for a short period of time while his owner was in the process of moving. Milo’s dad came back with one cat carrier to get his sister and claimed he would return shortly thereafter to get Milo. That was over 2 weeks ago, and Willie’s mom has not been able to contact Milo’s dad as all of his contact information is no longer in service.
